Bosch Siemens Neff Home Appliances underwent a strategic relocation, transitioning from their previous Kettering warehouse and customer services contact centre to a new, integrated warehouse and office facility in Corby. Our mission was to craft an innovative and conducive environment that aligns seamlessly with the evolving needs of the BSH Customer Service Hub.
About the Project
Our mission was to create a forward-thinking environment that propels the BSH Customer Service Hub into the future. Spanning over 1,000,000 sq. ft., the site seamlessly integrates expansive warehouse facilities with adjoining Hub offices and three floors of Front Office open-plan space. The ground floor, serving as the main hub, encompasses the entrance, reception, and staff restaurant. Meanwhile, the first and second floors are dedicated to the contact centre teams. BSH emphasised a departure from the conventional office setup witnessed in their Kettering location—opting against the mundane rows of workstations. Our design approach aimed at addressing challenges related to acoustics, team dynamics, collaboration, and the need for a standardised, linear layout, ensuring an environment that truly stands out.
A detailed view
CMIW designed an entirely new type of work position furniture based on a pentagon shape allowing clusters of teams the chance to sit together while moving away from the stereotypical ‘chicken coop’ layout. Each pentagon provided 2 fixed positions with the option for a third or training space adjacent. Low level screens enabled eye to eye contact, while the offset seating position gave a more dynamic look to the open plan space as a whole. Enclosed cellular spaces were kept to a minimum, always allowing good visibility through the glazed partitioning. The manifestation design is a clever selection of the varied home appliance instruction icons that accompany all domestic appliances. A new use of brand that was not previously part of BSH playbook and prevents the building users from an over branded workspace. Calm and simple breakout spaces welcome visitors onto the floor with views overlooking the warehouse.
The site consisted of over 1,000,000 sq ft of warehouse serviced by adjoining Hub offices and 3 floors of Front Office open plan space.
